It was a brisk, but beautiful day, the kind of day that makes you really appreciate living on Canada's West Coast and perfect for a run up the Sea to Sky Highway to Squamish. By the time the bus hit the North Shore, having departed from St Augustine's on Commercial Drive, the treasures brought out from various beer cellars by the BeerTourists on board the bus, were being shared around! Bitch's Brew, Arrogant Bastard, Old Cellar Dweller, the list goes on. By the time the bus pulled up to Howe Sound Brewery, the gang were well-primed and ready to go!
But little did they know the treats the folks at Howe Sound had in store...The group split up into two, with half the group settling at their tables at Howes Sound, to enjoy the samplers -Devil's Elbow IPA, Bailout Bitter and Diamond Head Stout - included as part of the trip. The second half of the group headed off into the brewery to join Brew Master Franco Corno for a brewery tour and special trip to the brewery's tasting room for a special surprise, a sample of the brewery's newest sensation, Woolley Bugger Barely Wine, provided specially for the BeerTourists.
The day ended as it began, with beers being shared and stories being told onthe bus as it rolled back towards Vancouver and St Augustine's where many of the group ended up finishing off the night after the tour was over.
For those who were on the bus, it was a day of forging new friendships and tasting great beers both on the bus and at Howe Sound. A special thanks to those at Howe Sound for hosting BeerTourist and going that extra mile to make day there a special one.
